Medical Internships

A medical elective with us is a sure way to see the world of healthcare and especially medical practice through a different lense. Medical students either in their clinical years of medicine or in pre-clinical years have an opportunity to participate. A medical Internship abroad represents a unique opportunity for medical students to experience healthcare in a setting unfamiliar to that in which they are accustomed to studying, it is also a golden opportunity for the medical students and medical volunteers to develop their skills by observing and participating in healthcare delivery.

Through rotation in the following departments under supervision:

• Internal Medicine – Male and Female medical wards

• Surgery – main theater, intensive care unit, Male and Female surgical wards

• Obstetrics and Gynecology – cesarean section, labor ward, normal delivery rooms, gynecological wards

• Orthopedics – orthopedics ward

• Pediatrics and child health

• Accident and Emergency – casualty ward, minor theater

• Ear Nose and Throat (E.N.T) department

• Comprehensive Care Clinics (CCC)– infectious and communicable diseases

You build on your skills and gain rich hands on experience on various clinical procedures under guidance of the local doctors and other healthcare personnel. Unique to Africa Medical Aid  is the medical outreach activities organized in collaboration with partner hospitals to the communities. The medical outreaches are intended to bring impact to the community through diagnostic tests health education and promotion. Through Participating in this customized medical internships abroad medical students and medical volunteers contribute to non clinical enriching medical activities beyond the routine hospital work.
