Overview Of 4 Days Nairobi-Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha “RD” Safari

This s a Masai Mara Africa Safari from Nairobi Kenya through the dramatic Great East African Rift Valley to Masai Mara National Reserve, Lake Naivasha and the Crescent Island for a Memorable Walking Tour.

The Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most outstanding wildlife sanctuaries in Kenya. It is contiguous with the Serengeti National Park in Mara Region, Tanzania. Masai Mara was named in honor of the “Maasai people” and their description of the Masai Mara landscape as seen at from afar; “Mara,” which is Maa in the Maasai language, English meaning “spotted,” as a description for the circles of trees, scrub, savanna, and cloud shadows that mark the area.

Masai Mara globally famous for its large population of lions, cheetahs, leopards and the annual Great Migration of wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle, and zebra to and from the Serengeti annuarly from July to October.

The Mara Reserve covers some area of about 1,510 km2 and was given National Reserve status in 1974. It is home to all members of the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, cape buffalo, leopard and black rhinoceros. Hippo and crocodiles are found in large groups in the Mara river, other residents within the Mara are; Leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and bat-eared foxes, pangoline and other wild game.

4 Days Nairobi-Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha “RD” Safari

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve
Early morning pick up from your hotel then we drive through the Great East African Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. The Masai Mara reserve is part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for the great wildebeest’s migration. It is home to the big five: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and the rhino.
Lunch at the lodge/lodge, relax before departing for the afternoon game safari. The Mara Game Reserve being one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Large mammals are varied, and easy to see. Other animals within the park includes: buffalo, masai giraffe, eland and lots more plain game: Impala, zebra, topi, both Thomson’s and gazelles. Dinner/overnight at the lodge/camp

Day 2: Discover Masai Mara Game Reserve
Early breakfast and the search for great predators and perhaps even their young ones continues. With our lunch picnic boxes we leave for a full day safari deep further into the Masai Mara. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia trees. Masai Mara remains the most exciting wildlife eco-system in the world. We shall transverse the reserve on unlimited game viewing drives in search of animals. Lunch will be picnic site under a tree in the Masai Mara open savannah. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge.

Day 3 : Masai Mara – Lake Naivasha
Breakfast, check out and leave with game watching en-route for Lake Naivasha boat safari and walking tour at the Crescent Island. Lunch at the hotel/lodge in Naivasha.
After lunch we will take a boat ride and cruise around Lake Naivasha looking for hippo and birds as we head towards the Crescent Island. Many different types of animals are found in the Island as we take a walk with the expert resident naturalist. Giraffes, waterbucks, wildebeest, gazelles, impala, dik diks, waterbuck can be seen during the walk, we will cruise back using the same boat. Dinner and overnight at the hotel/lodge.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha – Nairobi
Enjoy your breakfast, and depart leisurely depart for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. You will be dropped at your preffered hotel or Airport for your onward flight.
